In October 2006 "The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety)
Order 2005" came into effect. This order reform relates to fire
safety in all non-domestic premises. In effect it replaces Fire
Certification under the Fire Precautions Act 1971 with a general duty to
ensure, as far as is reasonably practical, the safety of employees, a
general duty in relation to non-employees to take such fire precautions
as may be reasonably required in the circumstances to carry out risk
assessments and ensure that the premises are safe. Local Fire
Authorities are obliged to inspect and enforce the law. How can we help?
